Now that Guild Wars 2 is finally out I have been having a blast playing it -- it's just a really fun and awesome game! But, I must try to contain my excitement because I am not here posting to review the game, rather I am posting to review the new Guild Wars 2 Secrets strategy guide. So let's grab our shovels and start to dig beneath all the layers of marketing hype surrounding this new guide and take a look at what it has to offer us Guild Wars 2 players.
Ok, Guild Wars 2 Secrets contains a total of ten strategy guides that are all included in the main package. The main three features are the Power Leveling Guide, the Gold Gatherer's Bible, and the set of Eight Profession Guides. I will break them all down for you and explain the details of each guide below. Let's get started.
The Complete Power Leveling Guide: As the title indicates, this section features a step-by-step power leveling guide. This guide is detailed and includes the specifics on all the quests in Guild Wars 2, which is absolute must-have information if you expect to get anywhere quickly in this game. The optimized quest guide provides the specifics on the location and completion of each quest, which quests provide the most experience gain, or the most valuable loot for your character. The power leveling and quest guide cuts straight to the point and is easy to follow.
The Gold Gatherer's Bible: If you have played Guild Wars before, you probably already know how complex and detailed the games virtual economy is. The gold gatherer's bible really helps to put everything into perspective in an easy to understand way. I found this area of the guide to be full of valuable information on the gaming economics of Guild Wars 2. This guide explains the games trading system and provides trading strategies that you can use to quickly increase your wealth in Guild Wars 2. Aside from the trading post strategies, this guide also contains a detailed monster drop guide that you can use to look up which mobs and areas contain the best loot.
The Complete Profession Guides: This section contains eight profession guides which include all the information you need to know about each of the games eight professions: Guardian, Warrior, Engineer, Ranger, Thief, Elementalist, Mesmer, and Necromancer. The pros and cons of each profession are explained. Included in each guide are Guild Wars 2 builds for each profession, as well as sections on weapon selection, skill mastery, etc. The complete profession guides contain all the necessary information you need that will help you to decide how best to build your character according to your favored playing style.
While Guild Wars 2 is still a very new game, I was impressed with the depth and quality of information that Guild Wars 2 Secrets had to offer. Aside from the awful informercial marketing style techniques used to market this guide, and the somewhat steep price, I don't have much to complain about.
